With St. Patrick’s Day approaching I thought it would be fitting to show some images of Ireland.
As you may know, my mother was from Dublin, Ireland, and I have very fond memories of visiting there and of hearing stories of her life growing up.
She will gone 10 years in September and I still miss her. In fact, I think I miss her more now.
She was my best friend. There is something very unique and special about the mother-daughter relationship.
Somehow she knew how to help and support me as a young mother with the perfect balance. Always had my back, rich with wisdom and overflowing with unconditional love.
And she loved my kids. And my husband.
As a child I don’t think I appreciated her unique perspective as an immigrant.
And everyone noticed her accent except for me. Unless she was on the phone with her sisters, then her Irish brogue came out in full force!
She was the only one in her family who came across the big pond.
Pretty adventurous for a 20 year old!
Probably my favorite memory is the summer I spent in Cork, Ireland.
Cousins tricking me into looking for leprechauns.
Kissing the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle.
Blame that for my gift of the gab!!
Hoping to return again soon, visit family, see the sights and meet new friends!!
Until then, I hope everyone has a Happy St. Patrick’s and maybe I’ll wear a kiss me I’m Irish shirt! Or at least I’ll wear green so I don’t get pinched! They do exist!
Blessings to you all,
